Accessible housing by the numbers

Numbers speak for themselves.

Today, less than 1% of all homes are universally designed. This is the real housing crisis! Particularly when it costs no more to incorporate 90% of the Lifemark standards if this is done at the design stage.

800,000 people will need new homes in the next 10 years, and how we design will help determine how we live.

Universal design will assist everyone, for example there are 60,000 births every year, 24% of the population currently have a disability, over 50% of everyone over 65 has a physical disability, 30,000 people who will break their legs this year and the 500,000 who will injure their feet, ankles, lower legs, knees, upper legs and hips.

At the moment, 90% of people want to age in place but their homes won’t allow it. By 2030, 20% of the population will be over 65.

Ask your builder to deliver a Lifemark rated home so you can live more easily both now and in the future
